North Wessex Downs Living
A small 5 house development has provided considerate, much needed village accomodation.
We are often approached for feasibility and planning advice, and in this instance we were asked whether an area of disused land at the edge of a South Oxfordshire village — adjacent to a Conservation Area and within the North Wessex Downs National Landscape — might be developed.
Believing there was a strong chance of success, we devised a scheme for five new dwellings on the 0.6‑acre site. Key considerations included vehicular access, the wider landscape setting, the nearby conservation area and listed buildings, as well as ecological factors and sustainability.
As with many similar projects, we provided a complete planning and architectural service, taking a proactive and thorough approach that underpins our consistently high success rate.
Planning consent was achieved, and the completed development has been positively received by local people. Each home has been carefully designed to offer modern living, with bright, airy spaces and views of the landscape beyond. Highly insulated and fitted with high‑quality glazing, the sustainable dwellings are heated by Air Source Heat Pumps. The scheme has transformed a neglected corner of the village, replacing a former dumping ground with small‑scale homes that sit comfortably within their setting and respond to local need.
