Alice’s story

Alice Gurney Architects has been rooted in Oxfordshire for more than 20 years. After studying at Oxford Brookes University and spending time working as an Architectural Assistant in the Caribbean, Alice returned to complete her qualifications and continue her career in the UK at what was then RPA Architects Ltd.

Alice became a co‑director in 2021 and took ownership of the practice in 2023. In 2026, she rebranded the company as Alice Gurney Architects.

Alice has extensive experience across residential architecture throughout Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Berkshire and the Cotswolds. Her work includes bespoke new homes, thoughtful renovations, and carefully considered extensions to both contemporary and heritage properties, including Listed Buildings.

In addition to her residential and heritage expertise, Alice also has experience in the commercial, community and hospitality sectors, gained through projects in both the UK and the Caribbean.

Alongside being ARB and RIBA registered I have an MA in International Architectural Regeneration and Development.

In an ever changing world I have a passion for affordable sustainable solutions and am experienced in Principal Designer roles under both CDM and Building Regulations Principal Designer.

In this fast-changing digital world, Alice Gurney Architects provides a human experience of the architectural process. We pride ourselves on the personal touch; really listening to a clients brief, responding quickly, and guiding our clients through what can be percieved as daunting task.

We make sure we explain the process involved from the outset of the project, from converting the initial brief into design responses, navigating the planning process, technical regulations and tendering and through to construction. A successful construction project is so dependant on the relationship between architect and client and contractor. Repeat customers and word-of-mouth recommendations demonstrate the success of this approach.
