Hampshire Farmhouse

Traditional meets contemporary industrial aesthetic to create a stunning family home full of character.

Our clients came to us with an exciting brief to fully renovate and extend this early Georgian Hampshire farmhouse. Previously extended in the 19th and 20th centuries and its story now continues with a unifying contemporary addition to the side and rear.

Uncompromisingly modern detailing contrasts new and old, while original brickwork and oak features have been retained throughout to reinforce the building’s historic past. The overall massing and approach is sympathetic to the building’s Conservation Area location and status, providing a characterful home suited to modern family living.

A high quality bespoke steel bridge connects two new bedroom suites to the older part of the house at first floor level, crossing the new full height linking element which provides an entrance hall, cloakroom and storage at ground floor.

In the spacious kitchen/dining room concrete and marble work surfaces create a quality, industrial aesthetic, teamed with a polished concrete floor. Extensive glazing connects the house to its grounds and wider views of its glorious rural Hampshire setting.
