Community Sports Pavilion

A new community sports hub for Edmonds Park

Planning permission was achieved for a new community sports building in Edmonds Park, Oxfordshire, and both the pavilion and the associated maintenance building have since been completed.

RPA Architects were commissioned by Didcot Town Council to develop designs for a new sports pavilion together with a large multi‑purpose function room. Public feedback informed the evolving brief, which expanded to include additional changing facilities to serve the 21‑acre site containing senior and junior football pitches, sports courts, outdoor gym equipment, two play areas and car parking.

The pavilion was designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating high levels of insulation, quality glazing and low‑energy systems. Roof‑mounted photovoltaic panels generate on‑site renewable electricity, helping to reduce running costs and environmental impact.

Didcot Town Council also maintains a wide range of parks, gardens, play areas, green open spaces and the town cemetery. We therefore designed a second building to provide a dedicated maintenance staff base and equipment storage facility, which has now been constructed alongside the pavilion.
